Nothing overly exciting happened this weekend but I feel the need to document the nothingness so that at a later date I can remember the nothing that I did. If anyone else happens to stumble upon this, do yourself a favor NOW and skip over to more interesting content at TAL.

Friday 4-5:30PM – skipped outta work like a 3rd grader and found myself NOT driving home. Instead I ended up at this indoor flea-market type place many miles down the road. There was a guy selling used video tapes so I bought “River’s Edge”, “Suburbia”, and a couple “Mystery Science Theatre 3000” episodes.

Friday 6:04 -- visited my friend Scrappy at his place of employment, which happens to be a tavern. Just so it didn’t look bad for HIM of course, I had a pint o’ Guinness. Chatted maybe 43 seconds total with him. (He is getting married in September. More news perhaps later…)

Friday 6:33 – Overcome and annoyed by the crowdiness of the tavern, AND remember that I had to put my rent check outside my door, I head home.

Friday 6:56 – 11:28 - Write rent check, listen in to the landlord show the upstairs apartment, listen to some Billy Bragg music (in solidarity to Tom and Liz, who were at that very moment front row at his show), did a DL entry, watched some tele, and watched some of “River’s Edge”. Crispin Glover, where are you now?!

Saturday 8-11:04AM – Slowly awaken and arise. Lay in bed and wonder where all the cartoonS went?!

Saturday 11:04 – 6:42PM – I don’t recall what I did and where the time went. I had intended on heading up to Hippy Town for a walk and some incense or suthin’, but it never came to pass. I became pre-occupied while straightening up my apartment. I found the empty cassette case to Bob Marley - "Live", and of course since I didn’t know where the tape was I was dying to listen to it. Rather than tear the place apart, I decided to methodically gather all my caseless tapes, and my tapeless cases into a pile in the center of my room. Many were unlabeled mix-tapes, so of course I had to listen to them in order to match them up. The hours went by… Somewhere in there I made taco’s for lunch/dinner… Finally got, for the most part, my tapes back to their homes. (If I just totally went digital with all this stuff then I guess I wouldn’t have these problems, but then again where’s the fun in that? Plus then I would just end up misplacing my “musical hardrive chip” thus wiping out my 300 years of collecting music.)

Saturday 6:43PM – 12:58AM – Went to Tom and Liz’s. Made bad music, practiced for possible open mic gigs, philosophized/debated the issue of corporate jingoism in relationship to the neighborhood pharmacy. (…I think. I was getting sleepy by then.)

Sunday – Lost track of time. I was thissss close to vegging the day away again but decided to fight that urge and go for a walk. (I’d like to thank Ann-Frank for partly inspiring me with her talk of taking walks lately. I’d also like to thank Anne Frank for her fine words. I’d also also like to thank the Serotonin in my brain for cooperating. And of course, I’ve got to also also also thank the creator of the universe whoever he/she may be if she/he exists. You da Man/Woman!!).

I walked along the abandoned railroad tracks near my house (I kicked myself for not bringing any Ben E. King.). I put in some of my best walkin’ music (David Bowie – “Low”, in case ya wondered.) and headed off down the tracks. I also had my camera so along the way I got some good pictures of some old VW bug parts behind a garage. There were doors and hood and bumper, oh my! Quite colourful! I also got a picture of bunny wabbit.

Then I headed over to a nature reserve park. I walked along the trails (listening to the new Eels album this time), before sitting on a log to read a few chapters of “the Diary of Anne Frank”. One of these days I’m gonna finish that thing, and it will pause in silence for a moment.

That night I watched the Eddie Murphy movie “Life”. It was better than I thought but not as good as I thunked it.

Sunday 11:56 – tossed and turned in bed. Couldn’t sleep. The weather was hot…. (That reminds me of a NPR story about this woman finding the journal of her dead grandfather or someone, and all it had in it were entries about the weather. Pages and pages of it...

“Today was partly cloudy and humid.”
“Today was 58 degrees – unseasonably cold.”

What would you think if YOU found this? (...he said talking to himself)
(and then the reply...) I love it! It’s like his whole life was a big piece of performance art; a concerto he wrote to be played after his passing. Like he spent years setting up a joke which he’d never see the punchline to. Or maybe he was just crazy… Either way it’s Brilliant!)
