I've been watching the TV show "R0ck Star - Super Nova" lately... a guilty pleasure. It's a "reality" show where T0mmy Lee of M0tley Crue, Jason Newsted from Metall1ca, and Gilbey Clark hired Guns & R0ses hand (for 5 minutes or so), are auditioning singers for their new "super group", Super N0va.

The show is pretty bad (and not in a "so bad it's good" kinda way). I watch it for the following reasons:

1. Most of the singers suck. They have what "might" be called good singing voices but lack any personality or style. Several would be better off spending their time singing hotel lounges or at karaoke bars. I'm a self-loathing person that likes to see most people publicly fail, so this aspect of the show appeals to me.

2. The people auditioning for singers suck. The intoduction of the show states that the singers are competing for the chance to "front one of the most exciting rock groups to come along in years". Yeah, real exciting. I'm gonna be in a band with Gilby Clark!! How many hit songs have any of these guys actual written? It's funny to watch these "wannabe rock stars" kiss the butt of these "used to be rock stars".

3. The members of Super Nova have a lot of wisdom to impart. I have learned a lot from watching the show. They like to give such helpful feedback as "You need to rock more!", or "When are you gonna rock?", or "I'm just not feeling the rock!". It has motivated me to turn up the rock in my daily life.

4. The house band. The actual only genuine good part of the show is the band. They are a very tight cover band, I must give them that. They are probably the ones that should go out and find a singer.

5. I'm a lazy homebody. It's easier to turn on the telly than pick up a book, or do something creative.
